This year's concert is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 13th December in the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, 30, rue de la Régence, 1000 Bruxelles; concert at 20h00, rehearsal at 18h00. www.conservatoire.be
Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening, from 19h45 until 22h00, starting 2/9/2009 in the Auditorium of the Collège St Pierre, 205 Ave Coghen, Uccle. You can join at any rehearsal on online until there are no places left for your voice part. There is good public transport and a free car park.
You will need a copy of 100 Carols for Choirs, published by Oxford University Press. The cost of a full subscription this year is 50€, and the book is 35€ (You can get your own if you like, but it will be probably more expensive!) Special terms and loaned music for retired, unemployed, students, refugees and asylum seekers. Any additional music required has been be purchased by Carols for Christmas! and will be loaned to choir members until the end of the concert performance, at which point it should be returned undamaged. It is unfortunately necessary to charge for music belonging to or hired by the a.s.b.l. which is lost or damaged while in your care. You are asked to make any marks lightly and in pencil or use removable tape and highlighter pencils. Pencils are available to buy or use at rehearsals. Special rates are available at the discretion of the a.s.b.l. for students, refugees and asylum seekers and the retired or unemployed. A small number of music books are available second hand or on loan for one season. It is illegal to sing from anything other than copyrighted originals of the music or legally approved photocopies. The a.s.b.l. will not accept responsibility if choir members use illegal copies and will not allow them onto the stage.
There is a dress code for the concert. Men and women singing tenor and baritone parts wear black dinner jackets and trousers, white shirts and black bow ties, dark socks and black shoes. Women wear a white, long-sleeved shirt–style blouse tucked IN to a floor- length black skirt. Trousers are an acceptable alternative, but consult Alice Perry - the stage manager - who needs to consider your position on stage. Shoes should be black, flat and comfortable.
We recommend that you wear minimal underclothing as things get hot under the lights with so many people crowded together. NO thermal vests! Avoid strong perfumes too – the mixture can be quite overpowering.
